Their mother (Moira Kelly) is a gifted person who is actively participating in humanitarian help all over the world since the age of 13. With 20 (in 1984) she worked together with Mother Teresa in Calcutta, India.

The highly contagious disease is spreading mainly in China since the Year 2000 but got more and more attention and investigative reports in the last two or three years throughout China.

The most important symptoms of this illness (on the left side is a picture with the symptoms of an acute HIV infection as comparison):

Swollen lymph nodes on the neck

GoDaddy is well know for its controversial advertisement videos to promote their web hosting service to the world. Now the CEO of GoDaddy, Mr. Dr. Bob Parsons, made a new move to cause controversy on his personal twitter account on 14th March 2011.
Bob Parsons published a video of his holiday trip to Zimbabwe in which he showed how he killed an elephant bull with his riffle (at night), all in the name of helping starving villagers.

Not sure if he knew that PETA is one of GoDaddy's customers but it's not only them who have already turned their back and moved to other registrars or hosting companies.

Strongest earthquake, tsunami hits Japan

Image via WikipediaIn the early afternoon of 11th March 2011 the biggest ever recorded earthquake (in the 140 years recording history of Japan and the fifth strongest earthquake worldwide) hit 130 km off the coast of Japan. A sunny spring day turned into one or maybe the worst day for Japan. The magnitude of the earthquake reached 8.9 on the Richter scale and it was even recognizable in Tokyo (400 km away from the epicenter of the earthquake).

The problem hasn't only been the earthquake in the ocean off Japan as a result of this earthquake a tsunami has been built up by the earth movement under water and pushed monster waves with 10 meters height up to 10 kilometer into the coastal area of the city Sendai in Japan. Boats, cars, houses, even two trains have been simply washed away by the massive waves and it's now expected that there might be at least more than 10.000 persons dead.

Until Monday morning more than 530.000 persons lost their homes (more than 80.000 had to leave their homes because of the nuclear emergency and the 20 km area around the nuclear power plant Fukushima). Additionally more than 100.000 persons have to leave their homes since Monday, 14th March 2011 because the security area around Fukushima has been expanded from 10 to 20 km.

Another big risk that occurred is that around the Pacific coast are many of the nuclear power plants which had to be shut down after the earthquake because the electricity got cut or for security reasons. Some of the emergency electricity supplies didn't work anymore after the earthquake struck Japan.

So there is a high possibility that we might get another Chernobyl disaster in Japan with massive consequences for the environment not only in Japan!

On 12th March 2011 at 7 am (Japanese time) the radioactivity in the control room # 1 in the nuclear plant of Fukushima-Daiichi (250 kilometers away from Tokyo) was already more than 1000 times higher than the normal value after they had to release pressure and radioactive vapour from the nuclear plant (reported by news agency Kyodo).

At 8 am the Japanese Premier Minister Naoto Kan extended the security zone around the nuclear plant Fukushima to a 10 kilometer zone instead (prior 3 kilometer).

At 9 am the second nuclear plant Fukushima 2 which is 12 kilometers away from the first nuclear plant is reporting about problems with its cooling system, too as they are no more functioning!

At 2:47 pm news about radioactivity leaking from the nuke plant emerged. The radiation levels are already 20 times higher than humans are exposed to for each year.

Around 5 pm news about an explosion in the nuke plant Fukushima 1 running on the tickers of the news agencies.

5:15 pm Video of a Japanese news agency is showing damages at the nuclear power plant in Fukushima

5:45 pm News Agency Jiji announced that the roof of the nuclear power plant has collapsed!

7:00 pm: Japan is asking Russia for delivery of gas as they expect soon a power shortage. Population is asked to use electricity only if necessary. Russia's prime minister accepted the bid and will deliver gas to Japan.

11:00 pm: Nuclear emergency announced for Nuclear plant Onagawa because of higher than usual radiation.

Volcano Shinmoedake releases Ash and stones. The Ash reach nearly 4.000 meters up into the sky. The Volcano Shinmoedake is located 1.000 kilometer far away from the earthquake region.

Today (on 22nd February 2011) a new major earthquake -or should we say aftershock (as the earth didn't really stop to shake in Christchurch in the last 5 1/2 months) - took place in Christchurch with a magnitude of 6.3. It killed more than 75 persons, 125 persons could be rescued after one day but there seem to be still 100s of person missing and probably stuck under the collapsed buildings in the rubble.

UPDATE 27.02.2010: Death toll will likely top 200 persons!

But not many of the international press and media (and completely to forget about the Egyptian press) are focusing on the women behind the protests. The number of the women are now growing as they see a big chance for themselves to claim more rights and achieving a much better life in freedom.

No matter in which Egyptian city you look (Cairo, Alexandria and many more), wherever there is and has been a protest women are taking part and not only in the background. More and more of them are brave enough to show up in the first row or even in confrontation with the military like the following pictures will show you!

These days a video about a cruel and horrific way to teach their puppy dog to stand appeared in the Asian television & newspapers and is spreading like wildfire in Facebook and Twitter.

There's even a hunt going on for the persons who are involved in these cruel poodle puppy abuse. It seems to be a couple from Malaysia as the video was found on a pendrive in KLCC shopping complex (Kuala Lumpur in the Petronas Twin Towers) Their names seems to be Doreen Loo (the girl friend who took the video), (dog abuser) Champ Alan or Allan Tan.

VIDEO: San Bruno Gas Explosion in California caught on tape

On 9th September 2010 an unbelievable natural gas pipeline explosion happened at the rural area of San Bruno in California.

Today the video footage of an surveillance security camera from a nearby Gas station which caught the fire blast of this San Bruno, California Natural Gas pipeline explosion has been published by Associated Press - This is the first footage after the 30-inch diameter PG&E Corp. Gas pipeline explosion happened.

The Gas explosion did cost 8 persons their lives (as of 30th September - more updates at the end of the post). Over 50 houses are inhabitable or destroyed, around 300 houses have little or no damage.
PG&E Corp. did setup a relief fund with $100 million to support residents and city facilities (not included claims for injuries or wrongful death).

First live videos reports of the Gas pipe explosion (9th September 20 - 30 minutes after the explosion happened) taken from a Chopper concluded that it was most likely a plane crash that caused the fires in an entire neighborhood of San Bruno (CBS NEWS).

Around 4:35 am on 4th September 2010 a very massive 7.2 magnitude earthquake woke up many residents of the city Christchurch in New Zealand.

After the earth "stopped" shaking widespread damages and several power cuts have been reported by the civil defense minister of New Zealand (state of emergency declared).

Christchurch is the second-largest city of New Zealand with a population of 372.000. CNN reported that there have been 2 injured persons in the hospital after the massive earthquake and several strong aftershocks had happened. Scientists predict that a big aftershock will be likely after this destructive Canterbury quake.

Real Alien appears during live interview in South American TV?

We all know the stories about flying saucers or UFOs after the World War II and the well known mystery which is surrounding the case of Roswell (1947) in which the US military may have recovered an alien spacecraft (with dead or living aliens).

NDM-1: The Superbug or what is it really?

Image via WikipediaThe name "NDM-1" is spreading trough the news since today and it is called the new Superbug who could cause the next epidemic or even pandemic situation in our world (what a great time to start writing again about a possible endemic disease as soon as the WHO has declared the end of the swine flu pandemic today).

NDM-1 which means New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase 1 positive bacteria is a bacterial gene who gives at the moment the E. coli bacterias a drug resistance against common antibiotics. The most common diseases which result now from the contaminated NDM-1 gene are pneumonia and urinary tract infections.

Facts about NDM-1

NDM-1 seems to be spreading from India and Pakistan to Europe, most of the time because of persons who made "cheaper" (cosmetic) surgeries or cancer treatments in these countries. It's another fact that in India antibiotic treatment is used for too many sicknesses even when it wouldn't be necessary (which would strongly influence bacterias to modify in such antibiotic-resistant ways)
There are a few cases in other European countries (Sweden, Netherlands), the USA, Canada and Australia
The superbug NDM-1 is already known for more than ONE YEAR. Last year in August 2009 there have been 22 known cases in the UK, now the newspapers report write there are 50 cases
In comparison to the Swine flu scare from April 2008 - the H1N1-virus spread within weeks to almost all countries due to international travel and infected hundred thousands of persons but killed just a few thousand - it seems at the moment like "someone" wants to make panic because hundreds of newspaper write now about it.
There are at the moment two known antibiotics which can fight against NDM-1 infected bacteria. The question is how long will these two antibiotics be successful as bacterias can modify their code quickly. In comparison developing new antibiotics takes up to 10 years.

Time traveler predicted World Cup final!

On 13th June a time traveler posted in a Chinese Internet forum (Baidu) a message about the actual 2010 FIFA World Cup final in South Africa. The time traveler calls himself "X from the future" (X来自未来) and his message is the following:

I come from the near future, I know that many people tend to put me there. If you believe it is a joke, I would like to first give you some facts of evidence.

I want to give a very simple evidence, the world is most concerned about the World Cup finals. It will be both the Netherlands and Spain, the Netherlands beat Spain 2-1, Sneijder and another you could not guess now. I hope my words do not spread to South Africa before the World Cup finals, otherwise I fear that the mentality of the affected players could changed history.

A month later I will come back, then I hope you all like to believe my remarks about the future!

This time traveler could accumulate almost 44.000 fans/followers (24 hours later already more than 54.000) in Baidu within the last 4 weeks and many of these fans started betting on both teams, Netherlands and Spain, during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

UPDATE:

He said a few days afterwards that the future already changed because of his given prediction and that SPAIN will win now with 1:0 - but this post got deleted by the Baidu officials - that's why it was not mentioned in the original post! This means the prediction of X from the future became true!

Some complained already that the betting quotes have declined in the previous days as too many have made their bet for a win of Netherlands or Spain in the quarter and semi-finals ;-)

Do you believe that time travel will be possible in the nearby future?

For me it seems like there's a big chance of time traveling as the results are accurate (by taking the names of the 2010 FIFA World Cup finalists, the result of the goals can only be known on the night of 11th July 2010). Even Stephen Hawking announced in May 2010 that time travel can be possible.

Perhaps we just wait and look out for the news which "X from the future" will deliver on 13th of July....

Was the BP Oil Rig Explosion predicted by the Movie "Knowing"?

In the movie "Knowing" with Nicolas Cage (on air in 2009) is a TV News scene displayed which shows the Oil Rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico. The pictures shown in the movie look exactly the same like the pictures from the actual BP / Deepwater Horizon Oil rig disaster (with it's devastating oil spill) which happen on 20th April 2010.

But it's better for everyone to judge on your own if you want to believe that movies predict the actual Oil rig & Oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico or if this scenario is just a coincidence...

The ICE - Campaign - a Life saver for us!

Just wanted to share an important Emergency issue which i got today by e-mail!

Dear Everyone,

We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.

If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency?

Hence this "ICE" (In Case of Emergency) Campaign

The concept of "ICE" is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name "ICE" ( In Case Of Emergency).

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as "ICE".

For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A great idea that will make a difference!

Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our mobile phones today!

8 tips for a safe password

4 Password tips - What you should DO for a safe password!

Use long passwords. The longer your password is, the safer. Use a password that has at least 8 characters, and for your high-security accounts, security experts recommend even longer passwords: at least 14 characters.
Mix your password up. Use a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols—the more types of characters you use in your password, the harder it is to guess.

To illustrate: For an 8-character password with all lowercase letters, a cracking tool would be able to run through every possible combination in 2.42 days. By mixing in uppercase letters, numbers, and symbols, the tool would take 210 years to run through every combination.
Use text that's not in a dictionary. A password cracking program can check millions of dictionary words in seconds. Avoid "real" words that can be found in a dictionary.
Change passwords regularly. Change your passwords on a regular basis. Every 60-90 days is the recommendation of most security advisors; you may want to change them more or less often depending on the security of the information the password is protecting.

4 Password tips - what you should NOT DO for a safe password

Don't use 'password'. The word password and variations such as password1, passwd, p@$$w0rd, and drowssap (password spelled backwards) are so common that many hackers start with these.
Don't use easy-to-guess patterns. Don't use a sequence of characters (like 123456 or abc123), repeated characters (ioioio) or patterns that use characters that are close together on the keyboard (qwerty).
Don't use your name or other personal characteristics. Don't use your first or last name, and don't use terms associated with your personal life that others may know, like the name of your spouse or children, names of pets, license plate numbers, and phone numbers.
Don't use the same passwords for every account. The risk in using the same password for multiple accounts is that if someone figures out one password, that person now has access to everything else. For the utmost in security, use a different password for every password-protected program, web site, and account that you use. It's particularly critical that you not re-use your email account password on web sites because once it’s compromised, the door is opened to all your accounts that have your email address on file.

According to Cherie Carter-Scott these are the Ten Rules for being human:

Rule One - You will receive a body.
You may love it or hate it, but it will be yours for the duration of your life on Earth.

Rule Two - You will be presented with lessons.
You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called "life". Each day in this school you will have the opportunity to learn lessons. You may like the lessons or hate them, but you have designed them as part of your curriculum.

Rule Three - There are no mistakes, only lessons.
Growth is a process of experimentation, a series of trials, errors and occasional victories. The failed experiments are as much as a part of the process as the experiments that work.

Rule Four - The lesson is repeated until learned.

In my opinion these 10 Rules for being human are true as we experience them mostly on a daily basis in our own life. Some of them have been eye-opener like Rule 2 - 4 and 7.
They will help us understand that a positive life is much more appreciated for ourselves, even when life gives us several lemons to chew on.

The more often we take action in our life, the faster we can transform these lemons into lemonade and succeed easier in the following given lessons. Usually everything is given to us for a purpose, sometimes the purpose just gets understandable for us after several years.

So take your life easy, it will be more worth!

What is HVP (Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein)?

Since 4th March 2010 Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein (HVP) got into the mainstream media because one of its largest producers in the United States - Basic Food Flavours Inc from Las Vegas - got a consumer safety warning announcement from the FDA. The FDA stated that Salmonella contaminated the company's HVP production equipment. Afterward a nationwide recall has been initiated. It includes products from McCormik, Trader Joe's, Safeway and a lot of other companies.

What is HVP?

Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein is a commonly used soy-based food "filler" to make literally thousands of processed food products. You will find in veggie burgers, gravy mixes, soups and many other grocery products, just have a look at the list of ingredients.

Most Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein is used by food production companies as an ingredient in mainstream processed foods. It shows up in thousands of grocery products -- and most consumers are not aware they're eating this ingredient.

It's a fact these days that many consumers are concerned and asking for the first time, "What's behind HVP?"

HaloScan Comments not working!

Sorry i just recognized on the weekend that the Haloscan comment system is no more working. They have been bought a while ago by JS-Kit and now they stopped the Haloscan comment system because of too many flaws over the last few months.

They wrote that users should change to the Echo system (which costs 12$/year) or change back to Blogger's comment system. I intend to go back to blogger's comment system but for this change HaloScan needs to edit and remove their code from my template.

This will take some days... Hopefully the comments can be saved and imported in Blogger's comment system and everything will work fine again.

Blogs can be written to make a profit or non-profit but most bloggers blog for the purpose of making money.
Usually some posts will be published to provide an outlet for voicing out the bloggers opinions and share their thoughts on personal issues. But most of the population of bloggers has the intention to make money from their blogs.
Fortunately, there are several methods of profiting from a blog and applying these methods can help you make money blogging. Here are three steps to make money with your blog from scratch on:

1. Promoting your service and writing Premium Content

The first (and basic) step is to write a well-written quality content for your posts.
Imagine if you would write it for a customer who would love to pay you 5 or even 25 $ for it, how much research (time) would you put into this blog post?
If you are able to keep such blog posts as your standard, you are already on the way to not only attract visitors to your blog but in the future, clients and other bloggers could get attracted and ask you for guest posts (which increases your reachout in the blogosphere), product reviews (which gives you in some cases a brand new product for free!) or simply paid posts (which earn you some or many $).

Bad breath - Everybody has faced this situation once or more often in their life, some even have chronically bad breath ( Halitosis ).

Here are 10 tips to avoid bad breath:

Up to 90 % of bad breath is caused by a "dirty" mouth. Dirty means your mouth still contains food between the teeth and bacterias are happily growing in your gum. Cleaning your teeth at least twice a day should help reduce the bacterias who are one cause of bad breath.
Cleaning your tongue is essential, too, as it will further reduce the bacterias in your mouth. It's best to clean the tongue after you brushed your teeth.
Drink enough water as a dry mouth can quickly turn your fresh breath into bad breath. It's a fact that saliva (spit) has a natural antibacterial effect and can wash away small food particles, too. The bad morning breath is caused by a reduced flow of saliva during the night/sleeping time.
If you have no toothbrush/toothpaste around, rinse your mouth with plain water to remove some of the stuck food particles after a meal. It can already prevent that bad breath bacterias can settle in your mouth.
There are some natural remedies who don't cure bad breath but can cover the smell of it. Try to munch some parsley or spearmint.
If you want to get a fresh breath start to eat apples, carrots, peanuts, celery or some low-fat cheese. They help to fight the plaque bacterias and might help you in the fight against bad breath, too!
Eating a serving of yogurt daily reduces the amount of odor-causing hydrogen sulfide and even better it further reduces plaque and gum diseases. Try to get natural yogurts with active cultures (avoid the sugar-loaded ones).
In case you don't have some spare parsley, give a chewing gum (sugarless) a try. It will mask the odor for a certain time frame and increase your salvia (Nr. 3).
Coffee creates a thin coat on your tongue which supports the growing of bad breath sulfide in your mouth. A better choice would be to drink tea as some research show that it can help to reduce bad breath.
Say NO to commercial mouthwashes as they contain Alcohol which will further dry out your mouth. Additional they fill it up with flavor and coloring so that the different brands look & taste indeed different ;) In the long run you might even end up with chronic bad breath.

Twitter: How to be on Google's 1st page!

Yesterday one of the developer of Google's real-time search has been interviewed by The Technology Review magazine about the topic on how Google ranks Tweets.

Interesting as it is, he mentioned that it is similar to the PageRank model. There it's necessary that you get as much back links from related blogs and websites (best is high-quality -> with better PageRank as yourself) to climb higher in your PageRank.

In Twitter the ranking of your tweets works in this way:

If you are in connection with a lot of members who tweet about similar topics -Iphone as example- then Google will "look" who your reputed followers are (like how many websites with PageRank 6 link to your blog). If you are yourself reputed, then you give some of this reputation to other followers who follow you (Link juice called in PageRank methodology).

Even with less followers you could get on Page ONE in Google, if you have some Iphone-Gurus who follow you or if you are already an Iphone-Guru :)

A red flag is set by Google if you use Hashtags in your tweets as Google treats this for now as SPAMMY, even when it's a helpful search option within Twitter (perhaps because of this Google won't display such tweets).

Quit Twitter follower programs: They don't give you targeted followers to reach a good position in a Google search
Use Hashtags more carefully if you want to get into a good Google search position
Get targeted Twitter follower, use Twitter's own search and type in your keywords, follow the persons you like because of their tweets or use Buzzom (the only difference is you won't see the tweet but it's faster to follow targeted persons, there you can unfollow persons, too)
Try to get mentioned by other Twitter members as this increases your popularity within your followers and your soon-to-be-followers -> Retweet other members tweets more often
As always Google has implemented some secret algorithm to find the "signal in the noise" for which tweet will be shown in the search (if you think of Obama and millions of tweets, it's more likely that it will be related to an actual topic).

Many members of Twitter use the new list feature already and made additional followers for their own lists. But there are also some cases in which members build lists to warn other members about the included list members.

These cases can include

Spam
Idiots
political incorrect words

I guess you won't be included in a list who is called

My Spammers
Idiotic tweeter
Dumb-ass

In this case you have to unfollow this list.

Step 1:

Visit the profile of the member from whose list you want to disappear.

Step 2:

Click on the TOOL button beside the LIST Button

Step 3:

Click on BLOCK (Twitter user name)

FINISH!

After you blocked the member, you won't be anymore on the list of this member!

If you want to follow the member again simply "unblock" the member by clicking on the link in the profile, you still are no more on the list (until the member would put you up again).

In 1992, at the age of 12, Cullis-Suzuki raised money with members of ECO, to attend the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Along with group members Michelle Quigg, Vanessa Suttie, and Morgan Geisler, Cullis-Suzuki presented environmental issues from a youth perspective at the summit, where she was applauded for a speech to the delegates. In 1993, she was honoured in the United Nations Environment Program's Global 500 Roll of Honour.

In 1993, Doubleday published her book Tell the World (ISBN 0-385-25422-9), a 32-page book of environmental steps for families.

Cullis-Suzuki graduated from Yale University in 2002 with a B.Sc. in ecology and evolutionary biology. After Yale, Cullis-Suzuki spent two years traveling. Cullis-Suzuki co-hosted Suzuki's Nature Quest, a children's television series that aired on the Discovery Channel in 2002.

In early 2002, she helped launch an Internet-based think tank called The Skyfish Project. As a member of Kofi Annan's Special Advisory Panel, she and members of the Skyfish Project brought their first project, a pledge called the "Recognition of Responsibility", to the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg in August 2002. The Skyfish Project disbanded in 2004 as Cullis-Suzuki turned her focus back to school and enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Victoria to study ethnobotany under Nancy Turner.

What are you doing when you open Google ?

Do you just type in a keyword or a sentence and look on the first page which results Google presents you?

Hmm, perhaps you should take another look at Google and use it's full power by choosing different settings for your search results?

Here my series of "How to get the best search results with Google" will start. You will find a lot of new options and settings to get better search results and perhaps find some other interesting stuff with Google!

Show options

Did you recognize already that after you entered your keyword, you will see in the top left corner under the search term a link named "Show options"?

What is hidden behind this link?

First of all, it will open a small menu on the left hand side of your search results. There you can find the following items and new search and filter options

All results, video, blogs, forums
Any time, recent results, results from the last hour, 24 hours, past week, past year, specific date range
Standard view, Related searches, Wonder wheel
Standard results, Image from the pages, Fewer/more shopping sites, more text

Let's look for today on the first two options. Sometimes you just want to find results which are not from the mainstream media or the news agencies.

Therefore you can choose now more precisely the information, may it be just what persons are writing about this topic on their blogs or in forums or if they posted some videos about your specific keyword.

Now you could narrow your results a little bit more by not only choosing a specific website category but also by choosing different time frames.

If the news is so actual like perhaps the death of a celebrity like Micheal Jackson, in this case it happen that Google shows you older news at first as they are already established and kind of "branded"!
Then it could be necessary that you just want to see the most actual news which were released in the last hour or in the past 24 hours. Click the links and you will get the desired results within a second.

After you choose one of the time options, another option appears - Sort by relevance or sort by date. You can play with these now, too. Usually relevance is more useful for me :)

It will be from now on an easy game for youb y clicking the link "Show options" to find faster, easier and better search results in Google!

Apology for the Blog Layout!

I'm sorry that the blog is at the moment without any graphics :(

I'm using a FREE Blogger template for this blog and the person who provided this template does seldom upgrade his Photobucket account.

It seems in the last two months that his bandwidth gets exceeded in the last week of each month. I hope i can download the pictures as soon as his account is upgraded again.

I thought perhaps it's better now to store the used pictures here in Blogger/Picassa as they provide 1 Gigabyte free space and unlimited download volume and you could open several accounts for free with each of them giving you additional 1 Gigabyte free space :)
But on the other side it's quite time-consuming to change the link code for each picture.

How to get rid of ants -Part II-

2. Dissolve in some sugar (about one cup).
3. Add Boric Acid (amount equal to the sugar).

Ants will find the sweet mixture and start to eat it and take it back to the hive. It will at first appear that your ant problem will get worse, but then it should stop completely.
What happens is that the boric acid will dehydrate them and then they will die in the hive but, not before they deliver more "poison" to the hive. This mixture is should be kept away from animals and children but, is unlikely to harm them.

My favorite ant fixer is instant grits. Sprinkle them around the problem areas dry (it doesn't work if the grits get wet). The ants will eat the grits, the grits swell with the moisture in the ant's digestive system, and POP! go the ants.

How to get rid of ANTS in the house / kitchen?

Everyone has seen these little intelligent creatures (ants) walking around in the garden, on the street or even in your own house and especially in the kitchen.

Now the question is how can you get rid of the ants once they invaded your house?

Usually they didn't find anything to eat outside or some of the explorer ants walked accidentely into your house and found some sugar particles on the floor.
After that the explorer runseto his friends in the garden and tells them about the new food source. And now their journey will begin. Suddenly there will be more than 10 ants walking into your house, some are explorer ants who look for more food sources in your house / kitchen, some are the workers who carry the food back to their "house".

How can we stop the ants of continuing this journey?

Clean the affected area with vinegar, especially the path where the ants are walking. Usually they use a scent so that the other ants know where to go!
Try to use these things to get rid of ants:
- Black pepper,
- bay leaves
- Baking powder
- Corn Meal
- and/or Baby powder.
Baking powder let's the ant's stomach get bigger and bigger until it explodes, Baby powder (with talc inside!) dries out the body of the ants. Be aware a little bit of Baby powder because the talc can cause cancer.
Put all sweet and oily foods in airthight containers because on some days the like sweet things on other days oily things.
Clean the sink and don't let the dishes in the sink unwashed or filled with water as they also need to drink little water!

What is Bounce rate?

Bounce rate is a word connected with the statistics of your website. It's one of the important indicators how successful your website's content is to other visitors (quality visit!).

Google's definition of the bounce rate:

The bounce rate is the percentage of single-page visits or visits in which the person left your site from the entrance (landing) page’.

This means that a reader just looked at your main or landing page (in case you gave a direct link to one of your articles) and afterwards the reader bounced off your page (left it via another link or closed the window).

How can i lower my bounce rate?

For some owner of websites it's important to lower their bounce rate. There are different methods which you can try to get a better figure of your bounce rate:

Write more often an article instead of just once a week
Lower the shown articles on your blog's entrance page from 7 to 3.
Make suggestions at the end of each article which other articles might be of interest on your website (3 to 5 other post should be enough)
Write Articles in several parts, keep user attracted to read through them
Try to use pictures and catchy, sometimes controversial titles
Try different designs and navigation methods once in a while

Sometimes it's not possible to lower your bounce rate significantly because of certain specific content (for example dictonaries, product reviews, sales page) or if you use certain kind of traffic exchange where you get rewarded by watching or just opening a website and after a specific time you can close it and move on to the next one.

What is cardiac arrest?

I'm sure everyone heard in the last week about cardiac arrest. Why? Because the King of Pop, Michael Jackson was delievered after suffering from cardiac arrest in the hospital.

What does cardiac arrest mean and how does it affect the person that it was so deadly for Michael Jackson?

Cardiac arrest is a sudden disturbance in the heart's rhythm which can cause a complete stop of the heart or such a slowing down that life is no more sustainable! Every year around 330.000 Americans die because of cardiac arrest (Michael Jackson is not alone, perhaps it helps to bring some light on this severe body condition!).
In opposition to a heart attack, where the heart is still beating, cardiacarrest has to be treated immidiately, if not you will suffer from sudden cardiac death (SCD).

If cardiac arrest appears before a baby reaches 6 months, it's often called sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
Another point is that is found more often in the black population compared to the white one. Hispanic population have a lower risk than non-Hispanic, too!

How to get popular within EntreCard!

The question of getting and being popular in EntreCard will be important for many new or already established members. Several factors have to be considered which i will explain in this short guide.

What does Popularity mean and how is it calculated?

Popularity means that you gained a lot of members of EntreCard who drop their cards on your blog widget.
The popularity number is always calculated from the card drops within the last FIVE days. this means e.g. for this blog i have a number of around 700 at the moment. On average 140 person dropped their card/visited the blog each day!

How to increase your popularity?

There are five possibilities to increase your popularity:

Drop as much cards as possible, at best the maximum of 300 cards! Try to drop on members which will drop back, these are most likely the members with many points (sometimes they can't drop back anymore because they reached already the 300 drops before you dropped on them :( )
Advertise on blogs with high popularity points (it makes a difference if you advertise on a blog with 700 points or on a blog with over 2.000 points like the one from The Admaster) even it costs you up to 4.096 ECs.
But over 400 members who drop their card on that day and see your ad, a big part of them get curious what's behind this advertisement!
Consider to make a paid advertisement. It's relatively cheap to place this ad and it will be seen on a lot of blogs, chances are high that someone will click on your ad because it shows up nearly everywhere for the next one, two or three days (Entrecard offer Ads per 1.000 Page impressions for 0.60 $ shown on "all blogs" or for 1.20 $ shown only in one category -> Niche).
Try to involve yourself in the EntreCard forum and contribute to the community in the Market, sell services or/and buy from the other members to increase your visibility.
Use an attractive image which makes other members curious so that they click on it.

Advantages of being popular in Entrecard

You get a greater visibility to other members within Entrecard when you reach the TOP 15 members of your category (in my case "Mixed Bag"). This will usually be displayed at first unless you change the setting in the Campaigns to more rows.
If you can reach the overall TOP 15 members, your visibility is the greatest because this will be shown everytime when somebody clicks on the Popular-Tab!
The Advertising price on your widget will rise from the previous price faster and faster. You will get a big portion each day for more advertisement on high popularity blogs or for a big cashout -> Up to 50% of the Advertising price will be booked in your account each day!

How to avoid being banned from Google Adsense

Today it happened, Google Adsense banned/disabled my account :-(
Seems they didn't like that i had on several days a CTR (Click-Through-Rate) of over 10%. They wrote in their e-mail the following words:

I know that i had days when there have been only a few visitors to this blog for example and then there was one click on the Adsense-Ad.

Can i prevent a click from someone or should i make a warning... stop clicking because i have only you as visitor and Google will take this as a click fraud?
Do you think the easiest way to earn with Adsense is by clickin g your ads on your blog? For sure, it's the fastest way to get banned from Adsense!
And yes there are some guys who click on ads and they want that you do the same on their blogs... Don't do this, Google is intelligent enough!
Other guys try to fool Google with anonymizer software to hide their IP or to make them appear with different IPs... Don't think you can fool Google with this, sooner or later you get caught, too!
Search in the internet for professional clicker.. Pay them 50 $ and more and they do the job and make you rich... until Google disables your account (most likely short before you reach the first or any payout!)
Put Adsense-Code in your e-mails (not the one from Feedburner) and try to send this the members of your adress book or worse to a collected list of e-mail addresses... I guess, you know what will happen... many clicks for your Adsense account but not originated from your website -> Banned!

How to drop faster Entrecards

I found some pages which offer EntreCard lists for a faster dropping and at the end of this post some amazing tools (widget pop-up)/plug-in/add-ons:

The next time you only have to click on the arrow (when you want to open 10 windows immediately, click on the double arrow-symbol) and the favorite blog(s) will be displayed.
Now we get to the ultimate fast Dropper-Entrecard-Tool. Today Dustin from Blogfiction posted his Entrecard-Pop-up tool for Firefox.

In connection with the Firefox Browser, the add-on Greasemonkey and his tool-code it's possible that the Entrecard-Widget will be always displayed in the left corner of your page!

Just open all the desired EntreCard windows and then let the Pop-up display the widget in the left corner, simply click with the mouse on the "Drop"-Button and close the actual window with Ctrl+F4 or change to the next window with Ctrl+Tab.
For Wordpress you can download since one year a special Entrecard Popper Plugin (i saw it only once last week while dropping) which makes this pop-up automatically for your EntreCard widget (no matter which Internet Browser). Here you can download the WordPress Plugin Entrecard Popper.

Twitter is already an establish social networking and micro-blogging website. It was founded in 2006.

Members of Twitter use this service to write/inform each other about their life, news or updates. These updates are called tweets.

Tweets are up to 140 characters long messages which can be sent directly to other members (called followers) or which are posted on your own profile page. There they are available for everyone to read.

Twitter doesn't announce how many user they have but it is estimated that there are over 6 million accounts.

On Twittercounter you can see your own statistic about your growing followers and you can watch the statistics from other members, e.g. the TOP 10 with the most followers.

Here are some tips to get more out of this traffic and money making program:

How to get more or even all points daily?

You get points for publish one quality article each day. No matter how many blogs you add, you only get 100 points for one article (if you have two blogs and publish on each a post, you don't get 200 points!)
Advice: Publish daily ONE article!
There are at the moment more than 120 advertisers active in Adgitize. If you want to reach the 100 points for each day, you have to click on 100 ads that are available by "chain-clicking" the members web pages. When you reached 100 advertisers, the number 100 will show up (there are steps between already like 5, 10, 15, 25, 40, 60...)!
Advice: Click daily all available ads!
Increase your Page and Ad views with the help of Entrecard. If you join Entrecard, you can drop cards on other blogs. Usually most of the members drop their cards back on your blog which means you get additional traffic. This increases your Page view and Ad view points in Adgitize and gives you some more comments and followers for your blog!
Advice: Open an account in Entrecard (more about Entrecard and how to make money with it on Cornymans Moneypage ;-) )!
Double your Ad views by publishing two Adgitize Ad Groups on your blog/website. You are allowed to show 10 ads. So you can choose one single ad group and another group would be with nine ads. Or you can choose different ad groups but in a sum it should be not more than 10 ads!
Advice: Put two times the Ad code on your blog!
Advice: Advertise with Adgitize and get 100 additional advertising points (50+ visits/clicks on your ads are needed)!

How much money do i get for my points?

There is no fixed price for the points. The amount of your earnings is depending on the daily available amount from the advertisement revenue from Adgitize. There is no guarantee that these number might be the same in the future!

Here are some figures which have been published by the founder of Adgitize, Ken Brown and from my own experience:

0 to 99 points: 0.01 $
100 to 199 points: 0.02 - 0.03 $
200 to 299 points: 0.15 - 0.28 $
300 to 400 points: 0.30 - 0.50 $
400 to 500 points: 0.51 - 0.88 $

How easy can it be to achieve more than 200 points each day to earn a decent amount?

Look at my advice list and you see that you have to do only two things daily!

Publish ONE article on your blog - 100 points
Click all available ads - another 100 points
Get more traffic/page views - i got usually around 100 to 250 page views which equals to 1.500 to 3.000 ad views, for that you can get 10 page view points and 25 ad view points. After joining as advertiser and dropping more cards in Entrecard my page views reached 2.000 to 2.700 equal to over 10.000 ad views, for this you will receive 60 page view points and 100 ad view points.
100 points are available when you get daily around 10.000 page views :-(
Advertise on Adgitize and get the spent money one month later back:
Like you can see, you can earn around 35 to 60 cents more each day when you would advertise (and visit other blogs + blog yourself each day), this would mean you earn 11 $ - 18 $ more each month. And one month advertisement is just 14 $!
Find referrals for Adgitize and earn additional up to 5 $ for their first advertisement and if they prolong their advertisement, you will get 1$ for every monthly renewal!

Some short facts about the "swine flu":

At the moment there is a high accumulation of cases and deaths. The accumulation of cases happens with every illness which can be transferred by coughing, sneezing and body contact (touching hands, kissing...) compare it with the normal influenza which many persons get each year
The virus is not just transmitted from the pigs. It is an unusual hybrid virus from different animals + human and from different locations of the world:
Avian and swine virus from North America, swine flu strain from Asia and a human influenza strain.
How can a pig in Mexico get a swine flu strain from Asia? Never saw a flying pig ;-)
Are Pigs the real infectious reason for it or does the disease just need a new name?
Most possible it is a laboratory generated virus, isn't it?
Comparing the bird flu with the normal influenza will have similarities with the actual swine flu!
There have been over 400 human bird flu cases since 2003, over 250 persons died afterwards
Actually there are 1490 official cases reported by the WHO and 30 of them died in the last days (Source: Influenza A (H1N1) - update 16 - 5th May 2009, daily one or two updates!) .
Looks like there are less death persons than from the "bird flu", just more swine flu cases at once.
Deaths by the normal influenza (in the United States of America): 36.000 per year, worldwide up to 500.000, bird flu death toll on average 40 per year!
UPDATE 05.05.2009: Schools should not be anymore closed if a kid shows symptoms of swine flu
Short summary of the news:
The kids should just stay seven days at home, Swine flu no more dangerous than the seasonal flu!

The only tips i want to give:

Take care of your hygiene,
wash your hands more often each day,
avoid crowded place like public transportation, Fast food restaurants (many youths who don't care that much about clean hands ;-))
look out for signs in other persons but don't think everyone who sneezes has the swine flu :-)
Give your immune system in advance the right nutrition, vitamins and minerals.

Swine flu: What is pandemic and epidemic?

In the last days the two words pandemic and epidemic appeared nearly in each newspaper and television program.

They talked about the illness that is caused by the swine flu which has its origin in the USA/Mexico. At the moment over 100 persons died already - not directly because of the virus from the swine but the virus can affect the human body.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is talking from an epidemic which could develop into a pandemic in the near future.

What is now exactly the difference between pandemic and epidemic?

Epidemic is a sickness which will affect thousands of persons within a specific area (country or even continent) and time frame (like at the moment many persons at the same time in Mexico and the USA).

Pandemic is when the epidemic is spreading from one country to several countries on different continents. In the past pandemics occur from persons who travelled worldwide by ship. In our time pandemics occur mainly by travelling with airplanes around the world.

Epidemic sicknesses are HIV, Bird/swine flu or SARS. The last flu epidemics have been in 1957 and 1968. They cost millions of persons their lives at that time.

Everyone who started a blog will get to the point where he wants that the world knows what you have written.

This point is called traffic in the Internet language.

Generating traffic for your blog or your website takes time in case you have just a few friends or relatives who visit your blog.

To get more traffic for free your blog follow one or all of these tips and you will see an increase of visitors!

Write high quality and an unique content in your blog
Keep adding content regularly
Easy to remember domain/blog name
Keywords in your images (and person who look just for pictures will visit your blog!)
Improve your page titles
Submit your blog/website to directories like Blogcatalog, MyBloglog, YouSayToo, Twitter and so on.
Comment on other blogs with interesting content (not just -a nice blog- add some value to your comment!)
RSS feeds by e-mail or for the Internet browser (Feedburner is one of the most interesting tools for promoting your blog for free, you even can place adds with a Google Adsense account and earn additional some cents/dollars!)
Analyze your logs (best program is Google Analytic for free, put the code in your blog and see who visit your page, what they read, how long they stay and so on!)
Use a signature with the links to your blog/website (in forums/e-mails)
Give-away something for free in exchange with comments or articles about your give-away on their blog (you'll get backlinks for free ;-) )
